All runners have my respect, but the endurance runners are a breed apart. The 24hr version of Run Sandringham is run over a 5 mile course, with either solo runners or teams of runners operating as a relay.
Any runners back before mid-day on Sunday had the option of going for one last lap.
Ashley Gilbert was the winning solo male runner, completing 24 laps (120 miles) in 24hrs 13m 59s,
Karen Wickens completed 22 laps (110 miles) in 24hrs 5m
There were multiple categories of teams – MM / FF / MF pairs, 3 to 5 member teams male / female / mixed, and larger teams. The City of Norwich Athletics Club fielded a team in the 3-5 male team category, completing 39 laps (195 miles) in 24hrs 30m 56s. The had 4 runners and were averaging <38 minute laps, with a runner being able to rest for around 90 minutes between laps.
I joined the event for the second day, joining Olly who did day 1.
