Cadwell Park marked the opening weekend of the 2015 Monoposto Championship, and this was busier than usual due to the club having three grids this weekend rather than the usual two. Cadwell Park is only licensed for 26 starters, and two grids would have meant many disappointed racers.
As well as Monoposto, there were races from the Atom Cup, MSV Trackway Trophy and Team Trophy and the DDMC Northern Saloon and Sportscar Championship (NSSCC). The sight of two Australian muscle cars – an ex-Aussie V8 Supercars Ford Falcon, and a Holden Monaro powering through Hall Bends was great.
Cadwell is quite a narrow track with limited run off, and it was not surprising that many sessions were red flagged to aid removal of a stricken car.
The photo is of Andrew Barron’s Formula Vauxhall Lotus getting airborne over the mountain.
