Thruxton is a circuit which is only allowed to have 12 race weekends per year, so the opportunity for a club series to visit is fairly rare.   The last time Monoposto went to Thruxton was in 2010.

It’s the fastest circuit on the calendar, and although many think this means lots of power is needed, cars with good high speed handling will perform best.   The circuit is mostly flat out, from the start to the first complex, then flat out all through the back part of the circuit, including the daunting Church corner, up to the final club chicane, which the quick drivers treat as a left-right rather than a right-left-right.

Kevan McLurg (pictured) had this dramatic moment which was possibly caused by a locked differential putting extra load on one tyre.   A gearbox strip down and rebuild overnight and he was out again the following day.

Support races included the BTRA Truck Racing championship, Minis and Mini Miglia, Pickups, Britcar and Classic Formula Ford
